She’s Something (known here as Poppy) is our resident goat greeter, always happy to meet you at the fence for some attention. Poppy as she continues to mature, is a sharp, dairy doe who catches your eye as she walks around the pen. She has a gorgeous, well attached udder and is just such a well balanced doe.
In 2017, she earned her dry leg at the Northeast Dairy Goat Classic in Altamont, New York. She was also Junior Champion at the Dutchess County Fair. In 2018, unfortunately, Poppy went uneven early on in her lactation and we could not get her udder back. She still managed to earn an appraisal score of 87 VVVV as a first freshening two-year-old though, scoring excellent in front and rear legs, and rump. In my opinion, she was by far the most well-put-together two-year-old in the barn. We dried Poppy off early and crossed her fingers that she would freshen evenly in 2019. In 2019, Poppy kidded early at 141 days with two beautiful kids, a buck and a doe. An early kidding did not stop her from shining in the show ring. She earned her second leg towards her championship at the 2019 Progressive Champagne Classic, appraised 88 VEVV, and went on to milk 2160 pounds. We did not show in 2020, but Poppy finished her championship at her first show out in 2021 at an early spring fuzzy show in Troy, PA. We have her daughter King’s Rock She’s A Jedi in our herd and hope to add another daughter or two in the coming years.
