One of my favorite things about this time of year is watching our pregnant does' bellies grow! Normally, we plan for each doe to have two to three babies but singles are possible too. It is rare for us to have quads and while we have had some before, it has been at least 6 years since our last quad birth. This year it might be different though! We have our doe Twix who was ultra-sounded and we could very clearly see three babies possibly four! And then we have Madison who still has a little under a month to go and is so big her belly hangs over the milk stand!
My favorite baby belly of the year has to be Amata's! She is carrying her babies high and tight so she almost looks like she ate two basketballs. It still surprise me when she is able to stand up on the fence somedays! When she is on the move, she is able to turn her body into a wedge shaped "weapon" and will "charge" at the hay feeder or the gate! When she does, her belly pushes the surrounding goats away and she is able to secure the best spot on the feeder or be one of the first out of the gate.
I always think it is a bit of a struggle to get good belly pictures of the goats but in the past few days, I have been able to get a couple. While they illustrate how large each of the does are, I am not sure if they fully do them justice!
